Axle-back or Cat-back

I have been searching for a while now for an exhaust as you know, I keep reading that an exhaust is a cat-back or axle-back. I am just curious to what is the difference between the two? also, which is preferred more?

I have never actually heard of an axel back exhaust. Sounds more like a big muffler than an actual system. When getting an exhaust system cat-back is the most used and best performing. it attachs behind the catalytic converter (hence the name) and is effective of getting the gases out. Cat-back is the only way to go.
